Aims & Strategy

We represent members' views on important issues such as education, research, practice and standards, working with the Nursing & Midwifery Council, Department of Health and HSE.

We promote the practice and benefits of occupational health through networking, publications, a website, a "chatroom" and the AOHNP Annual Good Practice Forum.

We encourage networking at a national and regional level, facilitating this through a published membership directory that identifies areas of expertise. This directory is available to full members only.

We encourage professional development for occupational health nurses through workshops, symposia and lectures.

We provide a newsletter OH Today, published every two months, that covers topical issues and keeps members in touch with the Association.

We provide a Job Introduction Scheme for members.

We offer the opportunity to obtain professional indemnity through the Medical Defence Union (MDU) at reduced cost. This includes professional indemnity and a 24-hour advice line. Contact numbers for the MDU will be provided to AOHNP members.

In December 2004 the Board finalised a new three year strategy for October 2004 - September 2007. The eight strategies are listed below. Click on the relevant link to read each strategy document.
