The AssociationTHE VISION AOHNP(UK)
is a professional organisation that supports, encourages and motivates
its membership, always keeping their interests at its core. We will
raise the profile of occupational health practice, creating and using
networking opportunities to influence the wider occupational health
and safety agenda. The AOHNP (UK) was founded in 1992 to increase representation and raise the profile of occupational health nurses. The Association, which is now a respected professional organisation, comprises Occupational Health Nurse Practitioners working across all sectors of UK industry and at all levels of employment from service directors to students. Its first Patron, journalist and bowel cancer champion Lynn Faulds Wood, was appointed in July 2000. AOHNP strategy is directed by its constitution. It is managed by an elected Board who offer their services on a purely voluntary basis. Regional Directors (up to 11) play a significant role. Their primary function is to support the occupational health needs of each member within their region. The Board is supported by working parties formed from interested members, or from allied professions, all working together for the benefit of the profession. Building on past successes the Association continues to grow as the professional organisation solely dedicated to occupational health nurse practitioners.
